October 05 2017 - doadmin
live musicSeattle is home to one of the most thriving music scenes in the US. As the original home of famed rock bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, this established music community has a great deal on offer. When you’re on your way to Toyota of Seattle, consider stopping off at a venue to catch some tunes. Here’s a few weekly events you shouldn’t miss.

1.   Sophisticated Mama at Havana

It’s time to slip into your best cocktail dress. Each and every Thursday night, you can enjoy some relaxed soul tunes while sipping a good glass of wine at the Sophisticated Mama event, located on Capitol Hill. This is a perfect venue for anyone aged 25 and up, and a great place to meet singles. The good times and relaxed vibe get started at 9pm at Havana, at 1010 E Pike Street. This impressive music venture has been ongoing for the past five years, offering up a diverse mix of  soul, funk, and R&B to speak to your much-needed down time. Music from the 60s and 70s is the inspiration. The DJ of note at the weekly event is DJ Nitty Gritty, who is often joined by established guest artists, to keep things fresh and interesting.

2. Open Mic Night at Downpour Brewing

When you and your friends are looking for a relaxed space to kick back and experience new tunes, an open mic night is always a safe place to turn. Bring your own talents to show off, or sip fresh draft beer and just enjoy the show. This one is great for families, too, as it’s suitable for anyone aged five and up. The show starts at 5 p.m. at 10911 NE State Hwy 104.

3. Jazz at Barça

Nothing is more chill than a night of jazz, especially when $12 bottles of house wine are thrown into the evening soiree. On Thursdays, take it easy at Barça at 1510 11th Avenue in Capitol Hill, which keeps popping until 2 a.m. Special guests and locals come in diverse groups, musicians are just as varied, with recognized artists such as Adam Kessler and Phil Sparks always offering something new. There is no cover charge, simply come and enjoy.

4. Jaded at Club Contour

Club Contour is the place to go for solid, edgy tunes; the kind that get you moving and feeling, drinking and enjoying. Every Thursday night, the club opens up with an evening titled “Jaded,” a 1980s-inspired synthesis of dark-wave, industrial, and goth. DJs Jades and Nervosa host the show, which runs late, along with fire performances to help keep you alert. Club Contour is located at Pioneer Square and is open every evening except Saturday. You’re lucky if you live in Seattle, and just as lucky if you visit. Music lovers will find a variety of places and gigs for different moods and tastes, from jazz to rock or goth.
