To mark four decades of off-roading excellence, the 2023 Toyota 4Runner 40th Anniversary Special Edition has been announced. Harking back to the venerable SUV's rugged beginnings, the model features unique styling and a bevy of standard equipment.

The recognizable boxiness of the 4Runner gets accented by graphics that grace the sides of the vehicle with yellow, orange, and red, a nod to the current generation's predecessors. Shoppers can choose between Midnight Black Metallic and Barcelona Red Metallic paint colors, which compliment the bonze-colored 17-inch alloy wheels and unique badging.

Within the cabin, there are unique touches that distinguish the 40th Anniversary Special Edition. Bonze-colored cross-stitch shift knob and seat stitching accents the Black SofTex seating surfaces. 40th Anniversary badging completes the package.

Every 2023 Toyota 4Runner model comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense-P, a suite of advanced safety features comprised of Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System, Automatic High Beams and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Also standard is Blind Spot Monitor + Rear Cross Traffic Alert, LED high beams, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) with traction control (TRAC, or A-TRAC with 4WD), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and the Smart Stop Technology (SST) brake-override system.
