Planning a Seattle Staycation
February 14 2019 - christenet@miller-nicholson.com
The next time you’re thinking of planning a vacation, considering a staycation instead and explore all that Seattle has to offer. With the savings from air travel and hotel accommodations, you can splurge on a fancy meal or purchase crafts from local artisans. Chances are you’ll stumble across something new and exciting with just a bit of planning ahead of time. Here are some suggestions from the team at Toyota of Seattle to get the most out of your Seattle staycation. Coffee: We all have our favorite cafes, but why not use a staycation to discover a new one off the beaten path? Whether your thing is a bold shot of espresso or an artfully poured cappuccino, there are enough cafes throughout Seattle to deliver a serious caffeine fix no matter where you are. Pick a neighborhood you don’t typically get to and check out reviews for the top cafes. Select one that has a good balance of coffee quality and ambiance. Start off your staycation there early in the morning to get a head start on the exploration that awaits. Sip on your drink and map out the entire day. Sports & Sightseeing: If there’s a game happening grab some tickets and enjoy the comradery. Alternatively, visit a museum (some of which have free admission) and take in culture from Seattle and beyond. A stop at the aquarium or zoo will appeal to animal lovers, while tours of landmarks and historic sites will enthuse history buffs. Simply put, there is something for everyone in Seattle. Parks: Take in sweeping panoramic views and enjoy some fresh air by planning a relaxing stroll through one of Seattle’s public parks. Cal Anderson Park is located centrally in the vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood and features fountains and tree-lined paths that are just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Take a break here to play a game of Frisbee or catch up on your favorite book, and then make your way over to the Pike & Pine Corridor for food, shopping, and festivities. Gas Works Park in Wallingford covers 19.1-acres and is situated at the north shore of Lake Union. Plan a visit around sunset to see the skyline blanketed in glowing light as boats sail across the glimmering water. Restaurants: End the day by taking a bite out of the local food scene. New restaurants are always opening all throughout the city and a staycation offers the perfect opportunity to check a few out. Look up the latest new restaurant reviews and find a cuisine that suits your taste. Think seasonally, so in the wintertime hearty pho or dumplings would be an excellent choice, while in warmer months outdoor seating and fresh seafood are the perfect combination. We hope this list has inspired you to plan an Seattle staycation. We are passionate about the community and its people. Need a new car to travel around to all the local hotspots?
