2021 Toyota Prius Updates
June 27 2020 - christenet@miller-nicholson.com

The 2021 Toyota Prius has been enhanced with a number of updates. A favorite among shoppers looking for an economical and earth-friendly vehicle, the Prius has made a name for itself over several generations. With its signature design, airy cabin and advanced technology, the 2021 Toyota Prius is a must-see for those considering a hybrid vehicle. Today we'll run through some of the updates for the new model year.

2020 Edition

To mark the 20th anniversary of its launch in the U.S. market, Toyota has introduced the 2020 Edition for model year 2021. Just 2,020 will be made with this configuration comprised of black exterior trim, a color-keyed rear spoiler, back alloy wheel, smoked HVAC vents, a black shift knob and more. Two colors are on offer: Supersonic Red and Wind Chill Pearl.

Standard Advanced Safety

All 2021 Toyota Prius models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS-P) 2.0. This updated suite of features now includes:
  • Pre-Collision System with Low-Light Pedestrian Detection
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Bicyclist Detection
  • Lane Departure Alert
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Road Sign Assist

Inside the Cabin

Within the roomy cabin of the 2021 Prius there's now standard Android Auto compatibility in addition to Apple CarPlay. The cabin can be equipped with luxury features like heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging. A 7-inch touch-screen infotainment display comes standard, as does Bluetooth® compatibility and an integrated back camera display.

Under the Hood

As before, the 2021 Prius is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with two motor-generators through a sophisticated continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Prius is able to launch solely on battery power under most conditions, and then the gas engine activates as needed once underway. This serves to reduce fuel consumption and deliver a smooth driving experience.
